In 2000, 18-wheeler accidents in Missouri caused 198 out of a total of 1,306 traffic deaths. Since then, despite improvements in truck safety and the addition of new safety regulations for truck drivers, Missouri has only experienced a slight decline in tractor-trailer deaths.
